Calendar Sync Refresh Frequency

Post by tonymcintyre »

Hi!

Two hours ago I created and modified several events in the calendar for my local unit. These changes were immediate on the actual Church website, but have not synced to my Google Calendar. I have performed the "Regenerate Synced Calendar URL" function, and updated the link in my Google Calendar appropriately, but the changes still have not yet been replicated in my Google Calendar.

What is the Church-defined refresh frequency for the Calendar application? Is it possible to shorten this frequency to 15 minutes or so?

This issue will become a large roadblock for improved adoption of the Calendar application in my local unit.
Me: I added that activity to the ward calendar.
Them: Oh, ok. How come I can't see it on my phone?
Me: It takes a couple hours to sync.
Them: Let's set up the ward calendar using Gmail!

The data isn't a "push", but a "pull". It's up to Google when they poll for the information.

Even then, there's two parts:
- When Google pulls the information into the on-line calendar
- When your device syncs with Google.

The first one happens about every 24 hours. I'm not sure of the timing of the second. I've never found a setting to change that.
