Animas NM Meeting house.
Im the building rep for our ward building which we have been meeting in since 1955. When it was first built in 55, we were a branch in a rural area of southwestern New Mexico. It was built by a member of the Lordsburg ward that worked in Construction. Eventually additions were built on, 5 to be exact. But the church wouldnt let him build our current chapel which we have been using since the late 60s. In the 1980s the church added on a cultural hall, new relief society room, restrooms, and a new kitchen. The meeting house was a beautiful light red color, but sometime in the 1990s it was repainted to a desert tan. Since then theres only been little modifications and upgrades. Today the meetinghouse needs new roofing, interior wall repairs, and some much needed renovations. Our Stake President also feels that there needs to be changes to the building, but the FM group in our area hasnt really done a whole lot to improve it. The paint on the exterior is planned to be redone, but only in a lighter tan color, which makes the building look not so welcoming to visitors, nor much presentable. The best our ward has been able to do is keep the building clean and weeds down. I feel that as the building rep that i have a responsibility to make sure the building is more presentable.

Keep the building clean. Turn in work orders through FIR for any repairs you see are needed. Work with your stake building representative (a high councilor) to work on the master plan for your building with the FM Group. And your stake president has a lot of clout with the FM Group, as well, if he strongly feels that something should be done.hebercharlesrichins wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 6:46 pm Today the meetinghouse needs new roofing, interior wall repairs, and some much needed renovations.
