A 80+ year-old was moved into our ward to live with her daughter while she is being care for her end-of-life care. She has a son whose record also moved with her when she moved into the ward. Her son, the brother of an active member in our ward, happens to be homeless, somewhere in California. What is recommended we do with this person's record? I'm sure there is a long and difficult story behind his homelessness, but his record--I think--shouldn't be in our records for various reasons.
Any thoughts?

Re: Homeless member
One could make an argument for moving the records out. I think what's going on is the records are with his family as they are the best source of contact with the member. The concept of what ward would best serve their needs does come up from time to time in the Handbook, but a quick read-though didn't provide a situation that would work here.
If you do move it out to a ward that covers where he is, I'd strongly suggest calling the ward first to let them know as you're probably not going to be able to send any contact information with the record.
The last paragraph of 33.6 says: "For situations not addressed in this section, leaders should contact the Global Services Department or the area office." That sounds like a good idea.

Re: Homeless member
@TKhanson, if you could post a response with what GSD tells you, that would be very helpful for any future Forum members who encounter a similar situation. Thanks!
