Remote access experience

Post by R9363 »

Hi

In our country and stake they decided to use Chrome Remote Desktop for access to meetinghouse computers. It is free, so cheaper than TeamViewer, AnyDesk & LogMeIn etc. I had some issues with it though. One thing is that the one who has access to the Google account associated with the Chrome Remote Desktop has to approve manually everyone who wants to be able to control computers. I guess possibly because they activated 2FA…
I really messed up my ward computer when I used Remote Desktop to log in with/via Microsoft Edge (it supports Chrome Store apps now). It basically took over the whole local account by logging my Microsoft account onto that computer

It's a long story, but has anyone had the same issues?
Anyone tried using Rustdesk or AnyDesk? Rustedesk might not be so good, but free. And the other one, AnyDesk, might be a good alternative. I hope it is a lot cheaper then TeamViewer

What would be the purpose of remote access? If you have a computer powerful enough to do remote access, you've got a computer good enough to do the work without remoting.

I also suggest you review section 4.9 of Technology Standards that largly limits it's use to maintaining the computer or do training.

As for licensing, I'd read the terms very carefully. Make sure it's available for commercial use and not just "free for private use".
