Member in Navy - on a boat

Post by mevans »

Does anyone have suggestions for what to do about the membership record for someone serving in the U.S. Navy, who primarily lives on a boat? I suspect he's not really involved with the church, but wonder if there's some unit that tries to minister to such individuals.

There's probably such a ward at the ship's homeport.

You might want to contact support to see about how to find that unit or the best way to move to record so it ends up there.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

You might also find useful information here: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/cal ... n?lang=eng
As a veteran, I know the church does a lot to reach and support members in whatever military circumstances they may be in. At the bottom of the page in the section on how Priesthood Leaders can support Military Members, there is an email address to request information if a leader's questions are not answered.

If you find out the name of the naval base, if it's a US one there's a reasonable chance it will appear in a CDOL search, with either a chaplain listed, or military relations missionaries listed.

And a ward will probably be assigned as the primary support for that military base.
