I was on the desktop website yesterday and saw the boundaries on the map. When I checked again today they were gone. It wasn't until I read through this thread that I realized I might have been logged in yesterday and not today. I logged in, dropped a pin, and the boundaries showed up. So there's one way to get them still. Log in on the desktop site. I don't think they are at all available in the app.

I typed the new address into meeting house locator. It located it with a pin. I pushed on the pin (a couple of times) and a tab came up for assigned ward. Pushed on that and the ward name address and time came up. Then did a search for that meeting house to get the name and phone of the bishop (with ward name, address phone and starting time).

I am looking retiring and moving and do not have an address. Would be helpful to be able to see a map of the Stakes and Wards, to I know better where to be looking for a home. Is anything coming soon to bring back a version of the old mapping system that showed the boundaries? Looking outside of Utah and travel times are a concern. Thanks!

Your ward clerk might be able to help you see at least some boundaries.

Nobody here in the User Forum will have any insider info regarding Church development plans, we're almost all just regular Church members like yourself. However, I think the current Meetinghouse Locator is actually quite helpful for a situation like yours. When I bring up the Meetinghouse Locator, I can zoom out to get any kind of state-wide, nation-wide, or world-wide display of church buildings. So if I was thinking of retiring to southern Florida, I could display that and immediately get an idea of where the church buildings are located, and corresponding distances of travel-time from different areas.

Ward or Stake boundaries shouldn't really matter if you're going to a brand-new place and you're just looking for a general idea of travel time. But of course it might matter if you know somebody and want to be in their same congregation (or perhaps, you know somebody and prefer not to be in their congregation... ;) )

I think the concern is that he'd find a place in walking distance to a church meetinghouse, and then finds out his area is assigned a ward across town.

With my luck, I'd find the perfect place and then the stake would reorganize the following Sunday.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

To your point, out in the "mission field" these types of things can be even more pronounced with geographically large units, so you definitely want to look before you leap!

As he stated he didn't have an address, the Meetinghouse Locator map seems appropriate for general awareness. And then once a potential address is known, the Meetinghouse Locator of course can specify the corresponding ward building and you can determine travel distance. Granted it's not as nice as having a visual boundary map, since boundary lines are quite often drawn in unexpected ways. But it should be workable if you don't care which ward you belong to, but rather how far it is from where you'll live.
