Feature Request: Windows 11 on ARM support

Post by craigktreasure »

The new Copilot+ PCs recently launched running Windows 11 on ARM (ARM64). They're certainly not the first ARM devices running Windows, but they are the first to truly compete with the Intel equivalent machines. I have installed and updated Gospel Library on Windows (6.8.0.0) and noticed that it is running the x64 version (emulated). It appears to run in emulation just fine, but it would be great if we had a native ARM version to get the best performance and batter longevity.

If telemetry is being used to determine how common these devices are, i'm concerned there could be an issue as the "App Details" pane in the app shows incorrect details regarding the OS Architecture. I'm not sure what method is being used to determine that field or how it works under emulation, but it shows as AMD64, which is incorrect for a Surface Pro 11. It should be ARM64.

For your awareness, the Tech Forum primarily serves as user-to-user discussion and self-help, and has no connection to Church IT resources. Posting here can often get helpful ideas of how to make various things work, but if you're looking to have the Church provide functionality such as you describe, you'll want to submit this via the Feedback link available at the bottom of most Church webpages (or via Church apps).

You may or may not receive a response after submitting Feedback, but we're told that all feedback is processed by the Church team. How or if they prioritize any particular suggestion, may not be easy to determine.

Please note that Windows development team has very limited resources. I believe it's all community members and no church employees, unlike the Android and iOS versions.

Given the limited resources, they're going to target their code for what runs on the widest range of devices.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

ARM64 Support is currently being worked on as we do see an increased number of users using these devices. No timeline but targeting our next production release
