Updating public event time on Eventbrite

Post by rclayton17 »

Hello everyone,

I created an event with the public event option, so the event was published to our ward website as well as Eventbrite. The start time changed, so I updated the time on the church calendar. The time updated on the Ward webpage, but not on Eventbrite. Any ideas on how to update the time on Eventbrite? Thank you in advance.

EDIT: When I posted this I was not aware of the Activity Sharing program. It has not yet been introduced in my area. Most of this post is incorrect. It appears that Calendar events can be shared publicly as described in the original post. It also appears that changes do not properly propagate. The GSD is the place to go for assistance if your clerk is not able to help resolve the issue.

Eventbrite is not a Church program and does not link to the church Calendar. It seems that Eventbrite does have an option to send an event to a web page, and it appears you have done that with your ward website.

The ward website does not communicate back to Eventbrite. You will need to edit the event in Eventbrite to make the time change there.

The Eventbrite event was created by the church calendar. On the church calendar, this is what the public option says.

Public events will be published to your Ward Webpage. They will also be published to various online event listing platforms, such as Eventbrite

In other words, I don't see a way to edit the event in Eventbrite as I didn't directly create it in Eventbrite.

Since the Activity Sharing program is new there may be some programming issues that have not been identified or worked through. I suggest contacting the Global Services Department (GSD) to report the issue. If that GSD link won't work for you then find the number for your area in this Wiki GSD article.

I opened ticket with GSD (I think), ticket # CSLUS3976818, and here's the reply. Are you able to route it to the development team who can investigate?

"Thank you for contacting Leader Member Support.
Thank you for the information.
Unfortunately Eventbrite is a third party site, and we are not able to support it.
You may need to contact them for assistance with this request."

That response sounds like tier 1 support does not know anything about the Activity Sharing program, public unit web pages, and the entanglement with event websites like Eventbrite. I recommend you respond to that message and fill them in that while Eventbrite is a third party site, the Church ICS department is the one that created the API connections and the issue needs to be routed through a responsible development team that works the Activity Sharing program.
