Golobal Communications Network

Post by annie_hatala »

So I am the Assistant Communications Director and Media Specialist in the College station, TX stake. As such, I am a member of a communication council, but I cannot access the GLobal Communications Network website. I really do need access in order to stay abreast of the communications strategies we are supposed to be following for media and social media initiatives. I can't find any tech support contact for this on the church website. I checked my calling status to make sure it was up-to-date, and it is. What do I do to get access, who do I contact? I feel like Communications is an invisible calling so it is not transparent where to go for help. Hopefully you tech guys can point me in the right direction?

Have you contacted the other members of the communication council to verify if they have access to that Global Communications Network website? Also, I don't know how the council is organized, but I expect there's a leader/president/chair who should be charged with supporting their council members (especially anyone newly assigned to the council).

You probably did the same thing I did and tried searching on the Tech Forum for posts about this, and at least I was unable to find anything relating to the Communications part of Church Tech. So whatever you do find, please post your results here so that any future member with similar questions, can reference what you were able to find out.

I'd start with the stake clerk to make sure the calling has been recorded as a standard position. There may be other things involved, but if it wasn't recorded, or if he recorded it as a custom position, then you won't have access.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

There were reports in another thread about LCR being inaccessible, so it seems likely. Unfortunately there's no public alerts when Church sites are down, nor info about which portions of which sites are down, nor alerts when things are back up. So we all just have to keep trying until it's working again.

Update: Working with my Stake Clerk, he thought the system would only allow access to one Communication DIrector (My wife and I are both Directors) so he changed her status to Assistant and kept me as the director and it worked! i gained access - but now this morning I don't again - so frustrating. Neither of us have access with our different usernames.
