Recording marriage between two ward members

Post by donatjr »

We have two wards members that were recently married. Currently, the wife’s relationship shows up as “Other” in the Household section of the Head of Household's (the husband) record. How do I record their marriage? I couldn’t see how to do it in LCR. I have a copy of their marriage certificate. Also, the wife’s record still shows her being married to her first husband. What documentation do I need to record the divorce?

Spouses tend to be recorded as "other" when the marriage information doesn't match up when they're added to the household.

If the wife is showing as married to a prior spouse, then that suggests that the spouse link on the husband's record isn't working. The marriage may be recorded, but the link isn't.

I'm guessing, but I suspect you need a date to record a divorce. You may need at minimum the year. I'd get the divorce recorded first as that's likely to prevent the subsequent marriage from working.

Thanks for the info! I checked the wife’s record since I posted my question and it does show her still married to her previous husband. I’ll get the divorce date from her, but will I also need to upload a copy of the divorce decree or will the date be enough?

No upload is required for a marriage or divorce.
