The email communication specialist (formerly ward website administrator) does not have default administrator permissions nor default calendar editor permissions. For them to have those permissions the calling must be added to to the administrator or calendar editor (each calendar) lists. In our ward the email communication specialist had to be added to each calendar as an editor we wanted them to be able to edit.

I believe if you have admin access to the calendar, you can see what the default admins are - they're the ones you can't remove.

It has been months and I still have no access to our branch page. The only thing I can do is add calendar items. My husband, who is branch clerk, can do anything with the Activity Page. They have tried several callings for me but none can gain access to the branch activity page. So frustrating.

It took me over 8 months to get one issue resolved, but it eventually did get resolved. It definitely will require patience (and a bit of persistence).

So you do have calendar access based on your calling. As this forum is "a user-to-user help forum and not the official method for interacting with any kind of Church support" I suggest that you use the feedback button located at the bottom of the calendar and explain your situation to get necessary help. Not quite sure what you mean by "branch activity" page. Are you referring to a branch activity calendar? If that is the case, you need someone with administrator access to go to the branch activity calendar to view which callings have access to that calendar. Hope this helps.

I assume she's wanting to made edits to the page itself and not just the events on the Local Unit Website page.

Access is via LCR, but it's unclear who has access. The instructions doesn't seem to differentiate between being able to push calendar events to the page and changing the page itself. What we have is from a document found on Activity Sharing:
Coordinating the Ward Activity Web Page
The bishop assigns a brother or sister to coordinate the ward activity web page. He may select someone on the ward council, a ward mission leader, a ward missionary, a counselor or secretary in one of the ward organizations, the ward executive secretary, the ward clerk, or an assistant ward clerk (note that a new calling should not be created for this assignment).
In short, it seems like those who already had access to LCR can do it. Notably absent is the Ward Website Administrator (or whatever that standard position is called now).

I think her best chance is to be called as a Ward Missionary. It may seem a little strange, but remember "Activity Sharing is a tool that can help members love, share and invite by making it easy to invite friends to existing ward activities and Sunday worship services". Note that it's publicly facing (missionary) not internally focused.

mosbruckerj wrote:On the Access Table, I don't see what the Website Administrator has access to.
On 06-04-2020 Website Administrator was renamed to Communications Specialist per letter from Priesthood and Family Department (1-801-240-2134).
"To facilitate such communications, the existing calling “Website Administrator” has been renamed “Communication Specialist.” A person holding the communication specialist calling may now email information to ward members by using the “Send a Message” function under “Applications” in Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR)."

Website Administrator had lots of rights before but now as Communications Specialist only able to use LCR to "send a message" IF access to LCR. No more photo abilities or anything else.

mosbruckerj wrote:We called a Mid Week Announcement person to deliver announcements that we don't get out from the podium. It is a specialized calling so I can't give her access to the things that help her to send out announcements.
Try entering as Communications Specialist OR give announcements to someone with access to "send a message" via LCR. Your "specialized calling" (which incidentally is entitled "custom calling" gives NO access to anything. Administrator or clerk used to be able to add people as calendar editor by NAME but no longer. Now is only by "standard callings".

Here is what I got from Feedback the other day:
"There are some issues around custom callings that are currently not allowing them, but we are working on resolving the issue. I don’t currently have an estimate on time. Sorry for no good update yet on this."

I expect that the other comments in this thread are pointing in the correct direction. I'll just add that there are times when "Branch" specific issues arise, which aren't seen with "Wards". It doesn't seem like this is happening here, but it's good to keep in mind that there are rare times certain "Branch-specific calling names" are missed when the Church enables functionality, or that there's something internal that works for Wards but not Branches (for example, for a while it seems Branch Mission Leaders did not have access to the Unit History functionality, whereas Ward Mission Leaders did).

It's unlikely this issue is specific to it being a Branch, but something to keep in mind.

Can you provide any details on what changed. I am assigned with the task of updating the "Branch Page" All I can do is edit the "Calendar" but they want me to add pictures and mange the "webpage" the church has made available. AS such they have me both "Technology Specialist" which really doesn't seem to cover the permissions of this, as well as the "Communications" roles. I looked through all the instructions for "Technology" and none of it indicates any editing control over the "Page" only the Communications" role gives me the "calendar" which I understand how to do the calendar, just not the page.. Thank You.

It will be interesting to see what ambldsorg has to say, but from what I read that level of access requires existing access to LCR.

From Getting Started
The bishop assigns a brother or sister to coordinate the ward activity web page. He may select someone on the ward council, a ward mission leader, a ward missionary, a counselor or secretary in one of the ward organizations, the ward executive secretary, the ward clerk, or an assistant ward clerk (note that a new calling should not be created for this assignment).
The documentation also talks about pushing events to the calendar. For that, all you need is to be a calendar editor. But the access you seek is in LCR.

The calling of Email Communication Specialist does have LCR access to "Send a message" and "Actions and Messages". It's unclear if it has the needed access to the local unit webpage under Reports > Unit Website Management.
