Printing names at the temple

Post by jmclauchlin »

I'm not sure if this is the forum for this...
I have set up QR scanner to receipt printer systems. Is there a reason we can't have this in the dressing rooms or other location for printing names? Scan the QR from my phone and have a receipt printer spit out a name slip.

The Tech Forum is not a support channel nor a method to submit development ideas to the Church. Rather, the forum is user-to-user discussion and collaborative self help. Other users here in the forum may have better recommendations about getting such a development request to the right people; but I would speak to a member of your temple presidency to see if they can channel the idea to the right people.

The Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple has a QR-code-to-receipt-printer setup for printing ordinance cards. It's pretty slick – much better than the common way of printing on full-size paper and cutting the names out. However, it's only in the temple office. I like the idea of having a scanner for printing in the dressing rooms or other places. Maybe there's concern about people using their phones throughout the temple. One annoyance I've seen is that sometimes the name cards stick together when printed on receipt paper. But the system is efficient, and it cuts down on wasted paper.

When the sister Church service missionary in the office who is the one that knows how to unjam the printers needs to go into the men's dressing room to fix the printer there, let us know how that will work. Plus the more printers in the temple the more they will need attending to.
