Electric/Amplified Guitar in Sacrament Meeting

I'm concerned about a trend that's begun in my ward: the use of an acoustic/electric guitar with an independent amplification system to accompany vocal numbers in Sacrament meetings. The General Handbook does not specifically prohibit this, but it's clearly not in keeping with the spirit of worship in Sacrament meeting. This accompaniment was used in the Christmas program and again yesterday in the Easter program. Both times the guitar painfully overpowered the vocalists and sounded like a solo performance. I'm currently the ward organist, and I seem to be the only one who objects to the amplified guitar. Thoughts?

I'd focus of that part when you bring it up with the bishop.

I suggest you will probably see more of that. While the actual standard for sacrament meeting music did not really change, the examples were removed. In all of the versiou music calling forums, it has been taken as since the examples are gone, everything goes.
