Our ward’s membership audit listed the following potential error: (Name of person): A person cannot be sealed to parents when he or she is already born in the covenant.
When I checked the person’s record, it shows that she indeed was born in the covenant, so where did the “cannot be sealed to parents” part come from?

I think there's flag on the record that says "Sealed to Parents".
I disagree with the statement "A person cannot be sealed to parents when he or she is already born in the covenant." While it requires First Presidency approval, it can be done. See 38.4.2.3. Perhaps that approval (or record of it) is what's missing.
Typically, clerks can't alter any temple ordinances (at least not without it being confirmed with the temple). I'd report it to support and let them work it out.

Thanks for your response. I reported it like you suggested, and I’ll see what happens.

LCR doesn't show it well but that person is marked as BIC, has a sealing to parent recorded and doesn't have the first presidency approval recorded. That is why they are showing up in that section.

When a person is "Born in the Covenant" they do not have to be sealed to their parents. It's like they come pre-sealed if that makes any sense? I have asked Sealers and even Temple Presidency about it, because I was Born in the Covenant and thought that I had to get sealed to my parents, turns out, im good to go.

What you say is correct from a doctrinal standpoint, but some members have some emotional baggage about the parents they perceive themselves as being sealed to. With First Presidency approval, it's possible to have a sealing to (different) parent(s) despite being Born in the Covenant.IvP4 wrote: Mon May 19, 2025 2:38 pm When a person is "Born in the Covenant" they do not have to be sealed to their parents.
