Mic Problems on Zoom

Post by juddwhetten »

I have been having problems with Zoom. I have a wireless transmitter plugged into the audio output under the sacrament table and a receiver next to me on the pew. I also have an audio interface to connect the receiver to my laptop. When I start Zoom, it always gives me an error message, "Your microphone is not working. Please check your connection or use a different microphone." All the physical connections seemed correct and Zoom was connected to the codec mic. I had time, so I restarted my computer and everything worked perfectly.

I guess I could do that every week, but sometimes I don't have an extra 5 minutes.

The odd thing is that when I do a test at the meetinghouse during the week I never have an issue.

Any idea what is going on?

That sounds like an unfriendly relationship between Windows, its drivers, and the audio device. The last few times I was asked to run the webcast, Windows refused to accept/activate the camera when I attempted to start video again after the sacrament. The ward got a different camera, and that apparently made everything work perfectly. If the audio device you are using is an analog-to-USB adapter, it might be useful to try a different brand/model, and they're not very expensive.
