How to do Out-of-Unit Calling?

I have a member of my ward who has been in the YSA Stake Presidency in another Stake. His home ward is still with his family in LCR, however since his calling is in another Stake he can no longer see his actual home ward information like his own family's information in LDS Tools. Is there a way around this so he can see his home ward info? Thanks

From my understanding, an out-of-unit stake calling is slightly different than an out-of-unit ward calling. Since an out-of-unit stake-level calling does not belong to any ward, it's a bit different operationally than a normal out-of-unit calling where you create the out-of-unit record at the ward level. If everything was done correctly it shouldn't make any difference, but this may be something that is affecting what's going on.

First Q: are you certain that his records were retained in his home ward, and that an out-of-unit calling was created in the YSA Stake? Even if that's what you've been told is what happened, it would be good to verify. When done properly, then as @jonesrk states the Tools app (and the web interface) provides the ability to select the stake you wish to view.

Second Q: has the member verified this is also an issue when using the web interface as opposed to Tools?: One thing I had to do when I went through a similar process (I currently have an out-of-unit stake-level calling as well), was to make sure I did a "data refresh" in my Tools app (and not just the normal sync).
