"Send a Message" Tables Not Working?

Post by MiaParry »

My ward has a weekly "Agenda and Announcements" email that I've recently been called to be in charge of, and I had the idea to add a few calendars to it. I made one out of a table in Google Docs and copied and pasted it into the Send a Message text box, and it looked fine there, but when I actually sent the email I realized it had completely wrecked the formatting (made the borders invisible, got rid of background colors, left-aligned text that was center-aligned, made the columns stretch and shrink to fit the text instead of having them be consistently sized and wrapping the text, etc.). I sent myself a few testing messages with the table option in the Send a Message menu itself - including messing with the properties - but when they came through the actual email, the formatting is always destroyed (see attached screenshots)

Am I missing something, or should I submit a bug report or something like that? If so, how?

There are a number of other topic threads discussing the issues with Send a Message formatting, or the lack thereof. In a nutshell, Send a Message does not accept, or play well with, other software formatting. I recommend creating your document in your preferred software program, then save it as a PDF file, and attach that file to a text only message in Send a Message.
