November 17 Attendance Options Not Available for Our Ward

Post by jaredpk »

Hi ... I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot the LDS tools attendance for November 17. For some reason it was greyed out and unavailable for our Sunday School teachers to mark attendance. We aren't clear why that would be. Did anyone else experience this? Or does anyone have any insights as to why this might have happened? Thanks so much.

Were you able to check the functionality on both an Android device and an iOS/iPad device? Our Sunday School Doctrine class teacher had the same problem today on her iPad and I instructed her to do a Data Refresh (found in the Settings menu) and that rectified the situation. My Android device had no problems. Due to high load times on Sundays I always do a Data Refresh on Friday evening to ensure any updates that may affect data syncing are resolved before Sunday.

I have this same issue with our Sunday School teachers. I moved into my ward in April 2025 and was called as 2nd counselor in the SS Pres in June. In my other wards the teachers in SS and other organizations have been able to take role. For some reason none of our teachers are able to access the class roles or take attendance. I had them do a data refresh as indicated in this thread, but it did not work. Is there something the ward or stake clerks need to enable for the tearchers’ profiles to activate this functionality?

My guess is that someone has been recording people in "custom positions" rather than using the standard positions. I'm not sure what tools are available to you at your level to check this.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

Are they assigned to a specific class in Leader and Clerk Resources, or are they under the "Unassigned Teachers" section?

I believe custom positions have an asterisk or other indicator that identifies them as "not a standard" position, but I'm not currently in a calling that would allow me to check that. A report of the Sunday School organization should reveal that.
