Camp Director/Camp Nurse
Is there anywhere in the handbook, or any church resources that I can find information on what a "camp director" is expected to do? Because I have been asked to be the camp director for our youth (boys and girls) this year, I was also asked to help the camp nurse to find out what she needs to do. And I cannot find anything online! I have spent about 3 weeks gathering information from the YW camp guide and also the AP camp guide. But still have so many questions. Thanks!

I don't have LCR access and cannot check, but I'll share this thought. It may be that although it's a quite common calling, that "Camp Director" is not a standard calling, and thus is not specifically mentioned in any docs.LiTTLEONE82 wrote: Thu Aug 14, 2025 12:00 pm Is there anywhere in the handbook, or any church resources that I can find information on what a "camp director" is expected to do? If it is a standard calling, then it may fall into the category of a few other callings that can be officially assigned in LCR, but don't actually have any public FAQ type of descriptions.
Regardless, the intent is for the leader who extends a calling, to identify what the specific stewardship and responsibilities are for that calling. A leader who extends any calling should be prepared to answer any questions from the member about exactly what the leadership is asking the member to do in that calling. If it's a delegated assignment to extend a calling, the leader should obtain those details from the "decision-makers" before speaking with the member. So I'd put the responsibility back on that leader to go and figure out those details himself, and then share that info with you.

Re: Camp Director/Camp Nurse
Have you looked at the Young Women Camp Manual. The Last section, To Young Women Camp Leaders, may be of interest. It is a bit dated but does discuss the YW Camp Director. There are references to the superseded Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 2, that are not found in the current General Handbook.
Another resource to look at is found at YoungWomen.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Click on the Leadership Instruction tile and then the Young Women Camp tile.
A resource for the Young Men camp is the Aaronic Priesthood Camp Guide. There is no mention of a camp director in that resource. But it will provide the necessary information for planning and conducting Aaronic Priesthood camps.
For camps that would include both young women and young men with overnight activities be sure to become familiar with General Handbook, 20.5.5.
