Trying to find a missionary

Post by Briand81 »

I am trying to reach out to a missionary who served a LONG time ago. He was flying home from Dulles Airport in Northern Virginia to Seattle, Washington. It would have been “summer” of 1989-1991. Im sorry I can’t be more specific, but there can’t be that many. The story is that he was sitting next to an (approximately) eight year old boy who was already a member of the church, but not very active. This missionary chose to ask him about serving a mission. As it turns out, this was the only adult who ever invited this boy to serve a mission and he also made a mission sound like a desirable thing. It’s been two decades since he served a mission and there is a whole legacy that comes from this one missionary talking to a young boy on a plane, How can I locate this elder?

As far as I'm aware, there is not an official Church resource to help with finding a specific (former) missionary. Finding him via social media might be possible, but it would likely be a long shot.

I think searching for mission groups on Facebook may be your best bet. The missionary might not be a member of those groups, but it's likely someone in those groups could help find the missionary. It might help to research what missions existed near Virginia at that time.
