Official websites for local units?
I am a stake clerk and our stake YM presidency has asked whether there's an official unit webpage that they can use to post stake YM announcements. Has anyone ever created an official unit webpage or whether this is even allowed or within policy?

Re: Official websites for local units?
There are a few different things.
First, there's General Handbook 38.8.20.2, but this is NOT an official page, also "Online resources should not duplicate tools and features that are already on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, Member Tools, or other Church resources."
There is an official page at the ward/branch level. Events are placed on it by clicking the "Public" checkbox when entering an event in the calendar. However, this is more focused on allowing the community to find out about events though web search engines and coming to join in the activity. Stake leaders can also do that and the events are pushed to all the English-speaking ward webpages.
You didn't say what he wanted to put on the page, but if it's primarily activities, the calendar system would be the appropriate place to do that. If there isn't one already, a "Stake YM" calendar can be created and he be made an editor of it. Activities can show up in a number of places such as Member Tools.

Would this be something like what you are hoping to do?

My understanding is that the preferred communication method for detailed announcements that go beyond what the calendar system might allow, would be to have the Stake YM Presidency share the details with the Bishoprics/ExecSec, who would then use whatever local communication methods they have in place (Texts, WhatsApp, Circles, etc). The calendar is of course event-based, and may not lend itself to more generic announcements or reminders.ShaneAxtell wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 9:26 pm I am a stake clerk and our stake YM presidency has asked whether there's an official unit webpage that they can use to post stake YM announcements. Depending on what's desired, a web page may not be the way to do it. Web pages have to be visited to be effective. What's going to drive people to view the web page at the appropriate times?
Without some kind of push notification, to "see web page for details/forms", it's not going to work. LCR has "Send a message" that allows attaching PDFs.

You'll want to be careful when posting detailed information about children and youth activities in places that are accessible to the public, for safety reasons.
