Additional Mic for better audio

Post by shmavey »

Hey, I work away from home 2 weeks at a time. I’m sent the Google Meets link which is great. The audio comes from the cell phone and it’s real crappy. I’m willing to purchase a Bluetooth mic for the phone or something to improve this for myself as well as others on the link. Does anyone know of a good option? I’m I off base and there is something better to do? I was thinking of a DJI mic and clipping it next to the pulpit mic. Bishop is cool with it but I do t wanna spend the money and it not work due to interference from the other mic. Thanks!

An additional mic is a great idea. Usually pretty cheap. See if you can get one that is omni directional so it will pick up the sound of the piano/organ, children singing, as well as the speaker

The cardiod pulpit mic will provide excellent audio, even for piano/organ/singing (see TIP at end) . The chapel should have a 3.5mm TS or TRS "RECORD OUT" jack located on side of pulpit, under sacrament table, or under clerks table on other side of chapel.

You can use a 50ft cable to get the audio signal to the cell-phone and a "headset buddy" adapter to attentuate the level to mic level and put it on a TRRS connector for the phone.

TIP: If you adjust your audio level on the phone to be as loud as possible during speaking (without distortion), then music and singing will be heard just fine. If you are using ZOOM, then make sure you turn on "Original Sound" otherwise music/singing will be garbled and diminished.
