I'm the Stake Technology Specialist, and we recently received new computers and a printer for the FamilySearch center in one our buildings.
I had no problem with the computers. They set up and installed just fine.
The new printer is Lexmark Mx632. It has successfully connected to the WiFi network
The computers that need to connect to the printer do not have wireless cards. They are connect via Ethernet to the same router.
I cannot add the printer to either computer. It does not show up on list of available printers. It cannot be found by IP address. It does not show up on the list of network devices.
The computers are running Windows 10.
I am able to successfully add my older Lexmark MX611 which uses the same WiFi network.
Lexmark support had me download and install this driver: https://downloads.lexmark.com/downloads ... 092023.exe
However, when specifying it's a TCP/IP connection, as Lexmark instructed, I got the first two screens in this imgur post: https://imgur.com/a/RdDBwoZ
The last screen is what happens if I use "autodetect" instead of specifying a the Device Type in the Add Printer dialog. The computer thinks it has added a printer, but the computer does not show up in the list of available printers.
I have verified multiple times that I have the correct IP address.
Does anyone know what I can do to add the MX632?

Re: Installing Lexmark printer
Can you connect it to wired?
The only thing that comes to mind is that the new printer may want to "call home" on the internet. Unless you've added it to "NoSplash", it's not going to be able to reach out on the wireless network. However, it should be able to communicate locally. But perhaps the blocked internet access makes the printer think it's not connected.

Re: Installing Lexmark printer
Our STS says he has received a new printer for our FSC. I have not seen whether installation instructions were included in the box.
- Are installation instructions available?
- Does the FSC printer need to have a static IP address assigned?
- Will the FM dispose of the old MX611 printer?

Re: Installing Lexmark printer
I'd recommend setting a static IP the same as the prior printer. That helps the clients find the printer.
For everything else, I'd call FSC support. There's drivers to be updated, firmware to verify/update, and registration so you'll get toner when it gets low.

Re: Installing Lexmark printer
The FSC Support missionaries helped us configure our new Lexmark MX632 printer for use. They are very skilled in this process.
The two FS Help Center articles that refer to Lexmark printers are not very helpful, and may be misleading. It is best to allow FSC Support to take remote control using Splashtop SOS, and do the setup for you.
Our STS unboxed the printer, powered it on, and followed the on-screen prompts. However, we found it is best to defer most setup choices until FSC Support can connect to the printer. For example, the printer will suggest that you set an Admin password and connect to Wi-Fi, but you should decline those options. We had to remove the Admin password before FSC Support could configure the printer.
FSC Support assigned the new printer to the same static IP address as the old printer. They installed the Scan to FamilySearch app onto the printer menu. They ordered new toner for the printer, since the starter cartridge shipped with the printer is nearly empty. In a week or so, we need to call FSC Support again to add the new printer to Cloud access, so Lexmark can monitor the toner level.
FSC Support also discussed the current problem with the MX632, which causes font corruption when printing temple ordinance cards from a ChromeOS computer. The workaround is to "Print as image" to print the cards clearly without font corruption.
