Sharing My LDS Scripture Scholar AI Bot

Post by franzferdinan51@gmail.com »

Hey everyone,

I was sitting at church recently when I realized how awesome it would be to have a bot that could answer my questions and help with church-related info. So, I decided to vibe-code my own in Google AI Studio. It’s far from perfect, but I wanted to share it freely with anyone interested!

You can check out the project on GitHub (feel free to fork it if you want to make modifications, add features, or adapt it for your own needs!):
GitHub: https://github.com/Franzferdinan51/LDS- ... -Assistant

You can also test the bot live here:
Live Demo: https://ldsbot.netlify.app/

Technical Note:
I recommend using a Gemini API key for the best experience, but I’ve included options for other APIs too for those who want to run it locally or experiment with different LLMs.

Main Features:

Answers scripture and church-related questions

Offers study tips and scripture references

Quick lookups for missionary info, lessons, policies, calendars, etc.

Focused on LDS topics and perspective

Modular and open codebase for easy tweaks

Fully open source – fork, extend, remix!

I’d really love for just for people to try it out. Please fork it on GitHub if you want to modify or extend it i welcome anyone to take it and build upon it but especially US ofc no attribution or anything needed from me
this was truly for ya'll and the church because i had the power to do so and have ADHD and no reason to not do it i would probably call it a template with a demo but ill be honest
it isn't the worst bot i ever used hopefully it isn't the worst bot you ever used either! i did minimal local AI and Open Router testing so far i literally did this since church this morning

Thanks and God bless!

PS Yes i had AI help me write this because other wise it would have been a wall of text LOL
also theirs some features that don't work yet

Hey friend!

Artificial Intelligence is a gift in our modern day and age, however, it will never replace the scared gift of personal revelation. I have had countless experiences in the scriptures that were Heaven sent. Personal messages that I needed to hear. These messages came from a loving Heavenly Father who knows me fully. God knows everything we could ever want to know and He will willing teach us these things. AI’s knowledge is limited to what is on the internet and remember not everything on the internet is good. AI will never know you because it did not atone for you.

Of course, I agree this AI is meant to help you study the scriptures. It’s not a “God,” nor a “God Replicant.” Thank you for your interest! I hope it helps someone learn, find church information, maybe even discover the church for the first time, and come to personal revelation.

AI is simply a tool just like the “Tools” or “Library” app when used appropriately. This app pulls directly from church and church-sanctioned resources, not the broader internet. Its context is entirely focused on the church and the app. it cannot pull even who the president is and actively refuses to do so

If you’re using a generic tool like ChatGPT without understanding how AI works, or aren’t careful about your sources, it’s easy to feel like you have no control. With this approach, however, everything is transparent, reliable, and church oriented. and while not an expert i know what im doing more than your average person.
