Ordering new door sign
New Clerk here. I was curious if anyone knew how we would go about ordering a new "Clerk's Office" sign customized with our unit name. We have generic signs without the unit name but our building has four offices with only two being used, so it would be nice to identify which congregation uses which office.

If you haven't already, install the FIR app on your phone, then open an issue for your door sign.

You can also do FIR stuff on the Church website.

Were you able to get a sign this way? I tried it and got the following answer from the FM Group today:
The church is the one that provides the signs. We currently do not have directional signs available.

Directional signs? If this is for a FamilySearch center, that comes from the Family History Department. Otherwise, I'd think it would be FM that provides/contracts for them.

Re: Ordering new door sign
Specifically, I'm looking for two different signs. The stake has converted a small classroom to an office in one of our meetinghouses. We would like to put a square "Stake Offices" sign outside the door instead of the room number (e.g., 102). I've been tempted to use a spare "Stake Clerk" sign I have. At least it would hint that it's not a classroom.
Our Stake Center is huge and the restrooms are way at the back of the building. We'd like some signs with arrows showing how to get to the nearest restrooms. I could go to Home Depot and get these, but they would be out of place. I've seen the exact signs I want inside of temples and visitor centers, so I know they exist. I was hoping we could simply buy them from CHQ if the FM Group won't install them for us.

Re: Ordering new door sign
I'd be hesitant to go down that route without additional confirmation. Based on user experiences shared here in the Forum, many "customized" additions to local church buildings, are then undone by the local FM Group if they notice them during their inspections. I know there's lots and lots of buildings that have had add-ons for decades, and nothing ever happened. But I also know there's been friction in other locations between what the local ward/stake wanted, and what the FM Group permitted (and eventually removed after the unit put in their own time and money). Since the local units are just 'tenants' and the FMG retains building ownership, I'd suggest getting some written confirmation from your local FM Group that if you proceed down that path, they give approval to put them up.mcallaghan wrote: Wed Dec 03, 2025 7:19 amI was hoping we could simply buy them from CHQ if the FM Group won't install them for us.
