Name assist

Post by wrigjef »

I read somewhere that name assist can allow you to set up an account for a youth. I’m temple and family history leader in my ward but I don’t see that option. What would it involve? Name, email, temporary password, is this something only the bishop can do?.

You have to be listed as the parent on the child's record, and that child has to be in your household. And the child has to be under 18.

You do it by going to https://account.churchofjesuschrist.org/ and on the left is "children accounts"

At least that's the only "name assist" I know of.

Edit: this is for setting up a church account. A church account can be used for Family History, but so can a FamilySearch account.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

Ok so only parents can set up accounts, it looks like we might be able to print a name for them but wouldn’t that be dependent on if they have built a tree, otherwise how would the system find a family name?

Family Name Assist Feature is described in a Church News article published on 29 March, 2024, called Family Name Assist Feature Now Available — With No Family History Research Needed.
