You could also check if you're on the beta version of the app. The current beta of Member Tools is a major rewrite, from what I understand, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are still bugs being worked out (if you're on the beta, it would probably be helpful to send feedback through the app to let the Member Tools team know).

I am on the beta releases, which is why I provided feedback from the app as soon as I noticed my problem with the new interface. My problem was fixed within a few weeks. In the meantime, I didn't go to any other wards in our stake which was not a problem since I don't have a calling that needs me to look others up.

DYNAMIC LDS CALENDAR for Deacons, Teachers, Priests, Builders, Messangers, Gatherers, Relief Society, Elders, Primary, and ward council that can be selected or deselected based on calling.

Based on your calling and current standing, you should have access to these calendars (I imagine a checkbox that you can toggle on or off at your leisure). The calendar would then be able to sync to Google Calendar or another calendar of your choice.

The church calendar webpage will allow local units to create as many calendars as needed. Members can select what calendars they see.

The calendar will show up in Member Tools as well as having links to sync to personal calendars (Android, Google calendar, iOS, Outlook, etc.)

As russell said, this is all included in the church calendaring system, and has been for a very long time. It has been my experience that people are just mis-informed about or have never used it. It is the single greatest logistical item of communication we have that is completely ignored in so many places. Rather recently, they have integrated it with posting those events to a ward web page if marked Public, which allows you to do some pretty fun things including images, and an AI generator to help you word the event more professionally or friendly. Those ward web page events are then easily transferred to social media pages and are formatted for those solutions.

It really is underutilized, some of that is because of how the online tools were treated and rolled out for so long, part of that is that we're just bad, as a community, at communication. And part is other reasons that aren't kind to say :0

I must admit that I am not aware of much of the functionality of the Church calendaring system. It may be that it is not widely used because it's not "flashy", kind of like email.

Exploring this concept, I see dozens of calenders. I see no way to create a new calendar. When I try to post a new event I tells me:


Only authorized calendar editors can create events. Contact your ward or stake clerk.


However, given my calling, I think I should be able to add an event to the calendar that pertains to my calling.

While there is a standard template for calendar rights, outside of of default administrators, calendar rights are up to the local units.

There is a logistical issue with any online system and over time attitudes and generational differences add to the difficulties. I work in IT, and many people don't realize that the ease at which they move around systems is all because underlying infrastructure decisions, account provisioning, rules processing is all done behind the scenes without them knowing. The issue you're running into is that you assume that because of whatever role you have you would already be granted that access. It doesn't appear to be the case. When the calendaring tool was rolled out, Bishoprics/Clerks/ExecSecs had the default permissions, and still do. But they also have, and it was added over time, the ability to add others. With a little patience and a desire to do the right thing, I'd get with your ward clerk, ExecSec or ward technology specialist and have your specific calling added to the calendar permission, and don't just think of yourself. As an example.

IF you work with the Young Men and you want access to the Young Men Caldendar, you should request that all Advisers and Specialists be added as calendar admins.

I don't know what calling you have or what calendar you are trying to use, but the Bishopric should be able to point you in the right direction to get it going.

Calendar admin gives power over all unit calendars. Including YW, RS, EQ, etc.

Calendar editor for YM calendar(s) would be more appropriate. Even then, I'd consider which callings should have edit rights to avoid "if everyone is responsible, then no one is responsible".
