Hello all, First time technology specialist, forest time poster..
We meet in a school and have been given use of their guest WiFi to transmit zoom meetings for our ward.
I’m unsure if the church laptop is blocking access to the website, or if the network is.
Think it’s the network as we’re getting a ‘connection not private’ warning.
The wrinkle is that it works fine on another Chromebook, same network, but not church administered.
Thanks for any advice…

Re: Non Church WiFi and Zoom
Hi, if you can verify that working device is positively using the same WiFi network (and not a hotspot or other network connection that it may have access to) it would definitely point to an issue with the church device.
Does the school network require logging in to the network/agreeing to a policy via web browser, before access to the Internet is permitted? If so, ensure that is done before launching Zoom.
Does the church device work with Zoom on other networks [outside the school]?
If not, it may be missing some important updates (root certificates, web browser, OS, etc). Also verify the date and time are correct on the device.
If the church device does work with Zoom on networks outside the school and if none of the above are true, the school may have network or other security policies in place that are conflicting with church configured policies. (I haven't used church hardware for a decade and don't know their current setup.) In that case I'd start by checking to see if the church device is using static DNS servers. If so, change them to be dynamic so they'll follow the school's DNS policies.

Re: Non Church WiFi and Zoom
Another thing that might possibly be relevant is Zoom does not work with IPv4 double NAT. If the church laptop is doing something odd internally that resembles double NAT, that might explain the difficulty.

I wonder if the church laptop is running IPv4 but the other one is IPv6.
