Our elder's quorum secretary makes spreadsheets and charts per district. I personally think it would a great addition to be able to break down the reporting that way. It's helpful for the presidency and to the district leaders themselves. They need to know when there is a lull and extra encouraging may be needed.

Also would add some "competition" to Home Teaching. All in fun of course. :)

To analyze the district stats correctly, the program should follow Nelson rules to determine which are out of process and which are just part of the normal system. (Hey, if you're going to manage by numbers, do it correctly!) :D

Sadly, too many managers don't use those ..... when they should. :(

The sample size in a ward is probably too small to really put those in use, but the basic concept is still valid - too many attach significance to a change in the number when it's really meaningless.

First:

If the Church has IIS/.NET applications in-house, what database is being used for them? MS SQL? MySQL? I was thinking about switching this application's database to whatever the church used.
We use Oracle quite a bit here. Most of our Web sites run out of Websphere. We may have some IIS deployments but I believe that they are rather small at the current time.

First of all I want to complement brad0426, the site looks great.

My mom is currently in the RS presidency of a rural ward; her ward has had a lot of move-ins and move-outs lately, so now they are working on reorganizing VT routes. One of the biggest problems they have is finding people with compatible schedules and that live relatively in the same area to match up.

I think it would be a great addition to this app if there were a part that would help organize VT/HT routes.

You could use the Google Maps API to show where each member lives. Color coded or different icon markers could be use to indicate if the household currently has a VT/HT. Allow for a filter option to view different availabilities (am/pm; Mon,Tue,W,T, F).

I was thinking along the same lines per the Google API. Kevins Google API for plotting the entire ward could easily (with his permission) be incorporated into the HT/VT site.

Excellent ideas, Rich. Home addresses are not currently stored within the system, but that could change one day. I also like the availabilities suggestion... We could add a drop-down on the reporting screen that allows the teacher to specify their availability window when reporting.

I have added the "District Total" feature that was suggested. Each District now shows a total at the end:

Count / not count

Post by The_Earl »

Is there a reason not to allow the admin to define visit types, and determine which count as a visit and which do not?

I envision a screen where I can define a new visit type, and then select count / not count.
