As a followup, I just finished installing the church provided Sophos package on four new Windows 7 Dell 580's and did not get any option to install a Sophos firewall with the AV. I just double checked and after the install all of them are sill using the native Win 7 firewall.
So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

I just recently set up four new win 7 machines for our Stake Center. I tried various different approaches to installing the security software including first turning off the win 7 firewall and shutting down the win 7 malware scanner. But, the sophos client firewall didn't install in any case. After running the "Local Unit Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware Software Installer", rebooting and going through the Sophos update process, there were none of the expected client firewall processes running. Then I checked the filesystem and found that it didn't install any firewall files in the Sophos directory. So it would appear that the installer decided to completely skip this part.
