How to stop YT from recording / posting live streams?

Talking with others, "Private" means that people have to be sent an invite via email to see it. A shared URL will not work.

Not terribly practical for what we're doing, but good to know if there's a need for such a limited distribution. It might be useful when we move into the "for shut-ins only" phase of webcasting.

Not really. An invite to view a Private video can only be made to individuals having a YouTube account. For shut-ins only, an Unlisted URL works much better, where anyone with the URL can view the webcast, without the requirement of having a YT account.
