It would be great to link directly to the GC talks, scheduled to teach from.

Agreed. This is already in the plans. In Adding lesson schedules to classes, step 5 says:

In future releases, selecting other options, such as Leadership or Teachings for Our Times, will also provide an additional selection menu to select materials from a library for those lessons.

And hopefully "select materials from a library" would include the growing video library on LDS.org as these can often be topics for leadership, 5th sunday or combined youth lessons...giving class members the option to preview these before the discussion during the lesson.
