Record current marriage

Post by gtisch »

How do I add a current marriage to a member after the death of a prior spouse. I have both of their individual records in our ward. His former wife shows up as deceased note in his record. And have not be able to get them married. Do I terminate the prior marriage and then send/receive and then update his record. Thanks, Glade Tischner Ward Clerk

Yes, I think that's what you have to do. "Marriage" is civil marriage, and will terminate at death. Sealing is different. Terminating the marriage doesn't affect that.

So terminate the marriage - reason: death of spouse.

Terminating the prior marriage is the correct process. You shouldn't need to send/receive in the middle, but it doesn't hurt.
