What do do when receiver gets "media failed" on silverlight player

Post by sj3vans »

Hello,

I'm doing a test today using the new Meetinghouse webcast portal. Transmitting seems to be going stellar. However, my receiver suddenly went dark. The states say: "Media Failed". I've tried restarting the browser, PC, different browsers (not allowed). Nothing is working. Has anyone seen this and what would I tell a unit to do if this happens to them? :?

Here is the log after a restart:

In this case it appears that it's unable to access the server.

Yes. Unfortunately not a very helpful message. The Internet connection was fine but I was using wireless at the time. I was really just looking to verify that the stream was active. Upstream health was at 100% for the VidiU. I will call in to GSC tomorrow to see if they are able to see anything from the logs. I should have taken a packet capture.

When the screen says, "Media Failed", it means that the laptop could not connect to the stream on the media server. This is caused by a number of things, if you provide me more information, like the broadcast name and your stake, I can tell you exactly what happened and how to correct it.

I looked up your test event. Without knowing much more about the event and times of when it happened, my best guess would be that the event just ended due to time limits.
