My indexing program loads properly about 25% of the time. When it fails it doesn't load the sign in picture. I've determined it doesn't load 6 DLLs from System 32 . I'm running Windows 10. It worked ok until about a couple of months ago. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Harold

Re: Indexing doesn't load properly
I should have said that Java doesn't load 6 DLLs when it fails.

This problem seems to be fixed by updates on 06-16-16. At least no more failure to load indexing program. Hal

Re: Indexing doesn't load properly
The Indexing installer installs its own JRE v6 for the Indexing program. Your system Java or JRE (Java Runtime Environment) is not called by the Indexing program. Check to make sure the Indexing JRE v6 is installed in the Indexing folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\FamilySearch Indexing\indexing.familysearch.org\jre).kleppel wrote:I am having the same issue with the java error at startup. Re: Indexing doesn't load properly
I'm seeing the same problem on a Win 10 computer, just downloaded the Indexing software today and getting the Java error mentioned above. I checked the indexing directory, and I do *not* see the jre -- what's the fix?
The indexing.familysearch.org dir just contains 3 jars and a bin dir.

Re: Indexing doesn't load properly
It sounds like the JRE did not install. The JAR is a package file format used to distribute the application. If you are comfortable installing developer software you could go to the Java Archive Download site and download the JRE v 6u45 for windows and install that download in the C:\Program Files (x86)\FamilySearch Indexing\indexing.familysearch.org directory.

Re: Indexing doesn't load properly
I had to COMPLETELY remove family search from my machine then re-install to get past this error. Steps I took to fix it on Windows 10:
1. Uninstall Family search indexing app by clicking on the file at "C:\Program Files (x86)\FamilySearch Indexing\indexing.familysearch.org\uninstall" through the folder file explorer.
2. Delete the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\FamilySearch Indexing"
3. Download and install FamilySearch Indexing from the website.
