Ward callings draft planner

#1

Post by kstone33 »

New bishop here with quite a few callings to take care of. I'd love to have some way of looking at ward callings as part of one screen with tiles or something for ward members that I could move around so that I can see the domino affect I am causing when I take a member from one calling and put them into another calling. Something in a planner or something that doesn't actually change membership callings but also maybe something just the bishopric could see. Maybe a list on the right with members that don't have callings. I have a picture of what it could look like in my head but lack the skills to create it. I think it would be something that could really help bishoprics visualize the changes. I think this would be an amazing feature in Leader and Clerk Resources.

While I wouldn't rule out something like that in the future, I think it's safe to say that won't happen soon enough to help you.

What I've seen done is use a stack of colored 3x5 index cards. White ones are callings, blue ones are brethren and pink ones are sisters. Lay out the ward org chart on your office floor. Reorganize as desired.

Decidedly low-tech, but it seems like it's useful.

Several Wards in my stake create a magnetic label for each member (adults only) and put the callings on the white board usually found in the Bishop's office. They can then move people around freely. I know some Mission Presidents do something similar when making assignments (mine did at least). They have those without callings in one area so they can see who they may need to assign. Also helps tracking those with out of unit callings that don't always show up on LDS Tools and LCR.

Try out https://github.com/clarkburbidge/lds-ward-callings. Working towards a visual representation of the ward like a traditional business org chart. I think the only way is to feed any solution from lds.org. If there is much manual entry, the solution is not sustainable.

I'd be interested in knowing what types of out of unit callings aren't showing up, so that we can improve the systems to include those that matter.
