Sync issues

I am running the Lds app version3.5.2 on both an iPhone 5se iOS 12.1.2 and on an iPad Air 2 running iOS 12.1.1. Both devices allow me to log in and then continue to a sync screen where the do absolutely nothing regardless of how long they sit. Please advise!
