Our ward has been moved out?

Post by kbuhanan »

Bishop Beacham received a notification that the 3rd Ward has been moved out of the Santa Clara Heights Pioneer Chapel.

We are in the Santa Clara Stake but are meeting in the Santa Clara Heights Pioneer Chapel in the Santa Clara Heights Stake because after the 8th ward was dissolved only two wards were meeting in the chapel and we needed a place to meet.

Please note that there is no 8th ward in the "Santa Clara Heights Pioneer Chapel (8th, 9th, 15th)"

We would like to know what is going on and how we can resolve this issue.

The notification is posted below:

From: <NOTIFICATIONS@lds.org>
Date: Sun, Nov 17, 2019 at 2:00 AM
Subject: System notification: Church unit has been moved out of location by Facilities
To:

The following unit has been moved:
Santa Clara 3rd Ward

From location:
Santa Clara Heights Pioneer Chapel (8th, 9th, 15th)

Please review any future ChurchofJesusChrist.org calendar events still scheduled in the location by the above unit and work with the unit to delete or move those events to another location if appropriate. To obtain a list of future events, use the "locations and rooms" option from the ChurchofJesusChrist.org calendar settings. Select the location and click on the number of events displayed for that unit.

Once all future events are deleted or moved by the unit, you may also wish to remove the unit from the list of units that can schedule the location.

First, I'd consult leadership on what's supposed to be happening. If this isn't what they had planned, then they need to straighten it out.

I'm not sure, but the message may be coming from a change that FM did to their database. The calendar system pulls from the FM database to determine what wards have access to what buildings.

But the starting point would be your own stake, then the leadership of the stake who is the agent of that building.

Sorry I made an error, it was the 9th ward that was dissolved not the 8th.
I was able to contact the Facilities Manager for the Santa Clara Heights stake and he said he has no idea why the notification was sent.

If I go into maps and search for the Santa Clara 3rd Ward (Utah), I'm pointed to 3040 Santa Clara Drive, where Santa Clara 1st, 3rd, and 5th meet. The meetinghouse on 3680 Pioneer Parkway holds the 8th and 15th wards.

So, it sounds like the church computers think you are moving. The calendar notice is simply a result of that.

It's possible it was due to bad information in the boundary realignment paperwork when the 9th ward was dissolved.

The calendar notification is sent when it detects a change in the Facilities database. So, the FM Group probably made a change. Perhaps they then corrected it. But your stake should check with the FM Group to make sure units are still assigned correctly to the buildings.
