With so many on lockdown/stay-home orders, our Bishop is looking into ways for quorums and groups to stay in touch with each other. Anyone here have a Ward or Branch that is making good use of the Circles portion of the new Gospel Living App? If so, how is it working out?
Any issues?
We've tested it briefly and one thing seems to be that some profiles seem to have all of their information (photo, phone, email) while others do not. Even though these people all seem to have the same settings. With our youth, it is weird for them that some have photos shown and some do not. Is there some setting that we may be missing? None of them say that they have marked their data as "private" anywhere that they know of compared to anyone else.
Just curious. Thanks!
Anyone in a unit where they are using the Gospel Living App fairly extensively?

As a default administrator for all circles I cannot tell from the app what the individual privacy settings are. I can see everything. The one exception is there are no photos for anyone in my Android 9 smartphone. I would expect for photo, phone number, and email address that both the household and individual privacy settings from the online Directory to be enforced in the app.jgoggan wrote:We've tested it briefly and one thing seems to be that some profiles seem to have all of their information (photo, phone, email) while others do not

In other words, the youth may not have marked their information private, but if their parents have marked their household private, it will override the settings for the youth without them knowing it.jdlessley wrote:I would expect for photo, phone number, and email address that both the household and individual privacy settings from the online Directory to be enforced in the app.

Right, but I'm a clerk and checked. We literally have TWO families in our entire ward, according to the Directory, that have marked their information as private. Neither of them have kids. So, I don't think that is the issue.

That sounds like a bug. Use the in-app feedback found in the Profile menu item to submit this as a bug.

As as "nobody" I can see only see the profiles for Administrators - not the regular members.
I also don't see any photos on my Android despite the fact some admins have both individual and household photos in the directory.

As a counselor in EQ, I am an administrator of the EQ circle. I can only see information in the profiles for administrators. I can see the profiles of all the members, but all their contact info is blank. Also, NO profile pics show (not even my own). I don't know if this is a bug or by design. I am also on the Android version, latest Gospel Living update running under Android 9. I wondered if I could add a profile pic from within the app, but no dice.

Just to clarify - if I touch any non-admin to open them up, nothing happens. It ignores me. As a result, the only information I have is their name.russellhltn wrote:As as "nobody" I can see only see the profiles for Administrators - not the regular members.
For administrators, I can see contact information as well as what circles they belong to.

That sounds like they have not completed the development for adult circles like the elders quorum administrators. Either that or you have run into another bug. I would think a circle administrator would have circle members' contact information available to them.davesudweeks wrote:As a counselor in EQ, I am an administrator of the EQ circle. I did notice a change when looking to see what you were seeing. I noticed that I and other ward level administrators had been removed as administrators for the Elders Quorum and Relief Society circles. But I still have access to see everyone's contact information in those circles.

Re: Anyone in a unit where they are using the Gospel Living App fairly extensively?
Possibly. I found it odd that I could open up the profile for all the EQ members, but their information was blank - as if they have not completed whatever coding pulls that information into the app for admins. It doesn't seem logical to code the app to display a blank contact page for each member...what's the point of that? I was ward clerk when the app came out but there were no adult circles at that time. I'm not worried about it, though. No one is using it in the EQ level in our ward. I don't have visibility on what, if anything, the youth are doing in our ward.jdlessley wrote:That sounds like they have not completed the development for adult circles like the elders quorum administrators.
