Google Meet is Free

Google has just announced that Google Meet is free for everyone. Up to 100 participants. No time limit until September when they plan to impose a 60-minute limit. You do not need to have a Google email account and you do not need to use their G Suite.

Wow, are they combining it with Google Hangouts, or will both still be around?

I have no idea. The news release said nothing about Hangouts.

The article I read didn't say anything about hangouts. It's pretty clear everyone is jockeying to be the leader in videoconferencing. I think it's pretty clear that even after the pandemic, things like video conferencing and telework will be more mainstream.
