I am currently the EQ secretary and I must confess that recording attendance has been challenging due several people that I don't know, people wearing masks, people attending via zoom. Have we consider letting families mark their attendance or even using GPS location + time to suggest attendance for those that wish to share that info?
Thanks

Re: Thoughts on letting members mark their own attendance
One aspect to consider is the stewardship that leaders have to watch over their members. It may be that the Church sees clerk's attendance recording as a way for the leaders to "remember and nourish" those they serve, by checking themselves who is attending the meetings they're responsible for.
Not suggesting clerks recording attendance is the only or best way for this to occur, and of course if a member marks their own attendance, the leader wouldn't see any difference from if the clerk marked the attendance. But my guess is that the Church will continue to see this as a clerk/secretary responsibility, that helps support their organization leader's stewardship. But that's just an outsider's uninformed guess
