Camping Reservations

I am an Aaronic Priesthood specialist in my ward and my Bishop asked me to make a reservation at a church camp. When I go to the website I do not see the option for me to make a Unit Reservation. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Have you looked at the three pull-downs at the top of the recreational property page: reservation type, reservation option, check in/check out>find camps as a starter? It is possible that a bishopric member may have to make the reservation as your calling may not carry sufficient authority in the software to do so.

Your ward clerk can see the access table which is available under the heading labeled other in LCR, but it only covers things available in LCR. It does not show camping reservations authority at all.

Searching the main church website for "camping reservations" shows the following as the first hit:

Since it's dated 2015 I'd expect it is out-of-date. For example, it has a link to a FAQ question which seems to answer your exact question about who has reservation permissions, but clicking it returns an error for me (even when logged in as a leader). And it states that other FAQ's can be found at camping.lds.org but I cannot see any FAQ references when looking at that site (aka camping.churchofjesuschrist.org).

As there's no church campsites anywhere near us I can't speak to the process. It does seem like some updated help content would be appropriate, but somebody who understands the process would need to identify what's right and what's missing in the existing info.

I took a quick stab at camping.churchofjesuschrist.org. It went though a few gyrations, took a long time to load, and it even wants to install something - but the page finally did load.

At the bottom right, under "Priority Scheduling" it gives a list of who can schedule when. It starts May 1 with Stake YW presidencies and eventually opens to up to all Stake and Ward YW and WM presidencies by Aug 1st. On Sept 1st, it's open to any member.

So, to answer OP's question, one needs to be in a YM/YW presidency at the ward or stake level for your unit to have it's proper place in line.
