What happens when quarterly report is not done ?

I am a new stake clerk and having issues getting all units to file the quarterly report on time. It is now Jan 22 - can they even still file the report at this time and if yes what is the actual deadline if one exists. Second question what is the direct effect on the unit or stake - I know it is related to budget but does the budget calculation use a 0 when no report is filed or do they use the same numbers from the prior quarter.

It used to be that the entire stake budget money would be withheld, but believe the current procedure is any wards or branches not submitting a report will not get budget money for that quarter. Not sure how lenient they are on late filers or if there is a chance to redeem themselves and get the money retroactively or not. The sooner they file the better, I would not give up on getting after them.

You may also want to keep your stake president informed. He has a little influence with the bishops that is often helpful at times like this. [grin]

It used to be that if you did not file your report, the entire stake got no budget allowance for the quarter. The allowance is for the stake and the stake allocates the amount each ward receives. Even though the wards file their reports directly now, they still feed the stake totals. I believe it is the stake that still controls the allowance.

It also helps to remember that the quarterly report being submitted now for the 4th quarter of 2021 will be used during this quarter to determine the allowance for next quarter, the 2nd quarter of 2022.

There is a day on which headquarters will calculate your stake budget allowance for the following quarter. After that, getting any change to your allowance will require much more effort than it is worth for everyone involved.

It is much easier to concentrate on getting the report in as soon as possible. Although the report is now late, I believe if you get everything in by the end of January you will still see your budget allowance for the 2nd quarter.

If I were in your shoes i would make sure everyone had their best numbers reported before the sun sets this Sunday. In our stake, bishops would already be in the stake president's office if they were this late.

In case anyone is wondering I still had 1 unit not filed today Jan 27th and the stake president caught a call from Salt Lake about it. They asked that it be filed asap.
