we are trying to help a member of our ward get back in to there account but we get this error even know the info is correct

It's possible they never did set up an account with their MRN. Did the ever access resources that are member-only (directory, calendar, etc.)?
Is it possible they created a FamilySearch account, but not a church account?
What happens if they create a new one?

Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.
