Cannot mark text and add a notebook note

I have logged out and logged back in, restarted the computer, however, this system is still not allowing me to mark a scripture, make a note that will save. Suggestions? I downloaded the app on another computer to see if I needed to delete app on my main computer and down load again. I had the same problem on the new download on the second computer. Suggestions?
