Divorced Parents in Same Ward - How to Get Children to Appear in Both Households

Post by Steven.egli »

How do you get children to appear in the household of each of the divorced parents who reside in the same ward? In the past this has not been possible but I am hoping that this issue has been fixed as it is cruel to divorced parents who share custody and co-parent. Vital information is not sent to the parent who does not have the children in his household because they are not included in stake and ward distribution lists for parents of primary, YM, or YW. If there is not a solution yet, what is the best way to bring this issue to the attention of the church employees or leaders that can solve the problem.

I'd suggest reading this post from 4 months ago in the Shared Custody of Children thread.

There is currently no way to get the children to appear twice in the ward's directory. It also indicates that even in a 50/50 split in custody, the child has only one legal address. Using that takes the church out of making the call as to which parent it should be with.

The usual way to send feedback is to use the feedback function in the church webpages. Even if you don't get a reply, it will be routed to a program manager. I'll point out that from a church administrative standpoint, this isn't needed. As it stand s now, the children receive all the attention that any other child in the ward gets. They'll listed on the rolls, listed for interviews, etc. etc. This is more about keeping people happy. The problem is getting this though the layers of leadership to the Office of the Presiding Bishopric.
