So this is kind of a vent, but also has anyone seen this happen before and if you see it happen maybe it will help you out. I have already used the "Submit Feedback" and I'm going to call them after I get back from a walk because I'm about to lose my mind.
Prior to yesterday we had two youth Sunday School classes. "Course 12, Course 13" and "Course 14, Course 15, Course 16, Course 17". Yesterday we called two teachers for "Course 16, Course 17". So I uncombined the larger class, combined Course 16 and Course 17 into "Course 16, Course 17" updated the teachers, and it worked fine. Then I combined Course 13, Course 14, and Course 15 into "Course 13, Course 14, Course 15" and got the red error "An Error has Occurred" (or something very similar) at the end and it just showed "Course 15" but it should have shown "Course 13, Course 14, Course 15" (YES, I know you can edit the name of the class, but when I've done this before it always displayed properly). The teachers show correctly; however, it had 0 members. So a few more tries after uncombining "Course 15" but it would only display "Course 15" with no members (but two teachers). In the organizations list it also did not list Course 13 or Course 14. Knowing that LCR is more miss than hit on Sunday I stopped for the night and figured I'd do it in the morning.
So this morning get up, log into LCR, combine Course 13, Course 14, and Course 15 and I get "Course 13, Course 14, Course 15". Voila! I thought, it worked. Go to the organization and the two teachers are showing. "This is good!" I thought. Then I clicked on members...and it's empty. So I go to "Member Directory" sort by age, and click on a 15 year old, go to "Callings/Classes" and under "Class Assignments" Sunday School is blank. So it looks like the error I got in LCR removed the class assignment of everyone who should be in Course 13, Course 14, and Course 15. So now I have to go in and reassign every youth that should be in that class to that class...fun. To make things better, when I edit their Sunday School and select the "(Default") class, and hit Save it makes the whole Sunday School line disappear. If I force reload the page, the line pops up but multiple tries still cause the line to disappear when I hit save. So I have to click on another member of the household and then go back to that member to get it to save and display correctly.
What's even better is when I do click on the class to assign them to, sometimes it gives me only four options:
Gospel Doctrine
Course 16, Course 17
Course 13, Course 14, Course 15 (Default)
Course 11, Course 12
Sometimes it gives:
Gospel Doctrine
Course 16, Course 17
Course 15
Course 14
Course 13
Course 11, Course 12
Going back after assigning them to "Course 13, Course 14, and Course 15" I have gotten the other option once and it had set them to "Course 15" even though it should have been "Course 14 (Default)" (you get the * that shows you they aren't assigned to the default calling.
So...any ideas on an easy fix? Anyone seen this before?

Re: LCR Dropping Class Assignments?
Help desk answer is there is nothing they can do from their side but it is something that has happened before and has to be manually corrected. So 22 names later, I think I am done.

Re: LCR Dropping Class Assignments?
Did the Help Desk state if there was a "best" way to go about making changes that minimizes the amount of manual effort, or if there's certain types of changes that are potentially more problematic? Or were they basically saying that whenever any type of class changes like this occur, there's no consistent way to be lower the odds of a mix-up like what you saw, and all bets are off?

Re: LCR Dropping Class Assignments?
Is there a "reset assignments" button (not to be confused with reset classes)? If so, then this might be a simple solution.
Or perhaps the better route would have been to reset everything. Then recombine from the default rather than trying to get from point A to point B.

Re: LCR Dropping Class Assignments?
It's a glitch and they are working with the developer on it. I've split and combined classes a few times before without issue but never got the error message. In the future I'm just not going to do major changes on Sundays while LCR is problematic. I'm just going to keep a Google doc open on my phone and add a to-do list, then do it on Monday. Pretty much just doing tithing on Sundays.BrianEdwards wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 2:04 pm Did the Help Desk state if there was a "best" way to go about making changes that minimizes the amount of manual effort, or if there's certain types of changes that are potentially more problematic? Re: LCR Dropping Class Assignments?
I asked specifically about an option to reset multiple assignments and was told they could not do that. The help desk told me I would have to manually do it as they couldn't do a database roll-back either. The only way I found to do this was to go to each person's record and re-select the class they were supposed to be in, but even this was problematic as I explained above.russellhltn wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 2:08 pm Is there a "reset assignments" button (not to be confused with reset classes)? Re: LCR Dropping Class Assignments?
I realize this post is a month old. I am a SS president trying to get class assignments sorted for next week.
When Sunday School is selected there is also an Edit icon presented. That icon leads to a reset option. Be aware that the performance of this function is sporadic at best. Reset then go take a nap/break because the amount of time it takes to post/sync is minutes and not seconds. To get accurate responses from DC or cloud sources will also take longer. Reloading the UI will produce multiple answers until all systems/sources get in sync. Yeah, I feel like I am back in the 90's on dial-up.
The reset to default assignments will put all the class members back to current assignments. For 11 YO you will have to add to the group from Primary in order to populate the class before Jan 1, 2025. Advancing the youth to their next class can be accomplished with the "Move To..." option but be aware it will act flakey and/or give errors (like: Sorry, something went wrong loading the requested data...".
Make changes then give it 120-300 seconds before making the next change.
HTH.

Re: LCR Dropping Class Assignments?
Frankly, I'd wait until New Year's day to be making any changes or printouts. There's been a number of quirks on trying to get next year's rolls. So, I'd wait for the new year to roll around and let the computers do their thing.

I appreciate the wisdom of simple advice. It would be nice if it just worked.russellhltn wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:37 pm Frankly, I'd wait until New Year's day to be making any changes or printouts. In small wards where the classes are often combined doing this after NYD won't help much if the combine/split/move functions are still choking. And if the already-choking app is loaded heavily on NYD then, well...

There is also the desire of leadership to have this sorted sometime before Sunday AM.

Re: LCR Dropping Class Assignments?
Understood. But I also know the frustration of fighting the automation. The rolls don't change until the new year. Added to the confusion that some members are on a "automated track" and other on a "manual" track. (Perhaps because it didn't change when desired.) I'm not sure how much I'd trust the "look ahead" into next quarter to work.
Fortunately, this time around the new year starts mid-week giving some time to sort things out.
