Editing budget categories

Post by bsjdavies »

I am a ward clerk helping the bishopric with a budget for the new year. Is there anyway to rename top-line budget categories? When I manage categories, I can edit the names (or inactivate) subcategories. And it makes sense that I cannot edit default top-line categories like "Relief Society" or "Bishopric". However we also have some top-line categories that I don't think are standard, like "FSY, and "Library". These have an edit pencil icon next to them, but when I click that, I cannot edit the name or inactivate, I can only assign it to an organization. Assigning it to an organization, however, does not turn it in to a subcategory or make it editable. I am not sure how these top line items got created as I have no power to create them

No, you can't rename, add, remove or inactivate top level categories. They are set by CHQ. FSY and Library are standard and present for everyone. But you don't have to allocate funds to them if they aren't useful to you (except for FSY--if you have youth attending FSY in the current year then you need to allocate enough to the FSY category for the ward's portion of the FSY expenses).

The standard top-level categories are: Activities, Administration, Curriculum, Distribution Center Charges, Elders Quorum, FSY, High Priests, Library, Miscellaneous, Primary, Relief Society, Single Adults, Sunday School, Young Men, Young Women
