Patriarchal Blessings always complete?

Post by shinklen »

I am wondering if it's just my memory is weak, or is this possible:
My son got a Patriarchal Blessing 10 or so years ago, and I thought it mentioned something about him being a help to us, his parents, later in life. Since he's in the medical field, I've always remembered that. Now that I've found his actual blessing, I can't find those words at all.
Is it possible it got left out?

According to the Patriarchal Blessing FAQ, a Patriarch (or his wife possibly) transcribes the audio recording, and the text is submitted online. I suspect even 10 years ago, all Patriarchs had some kind of audio recorder they used for their work. I don't know if Patriarchs receive any specific instructions, but I imagine they are extremely careful to ensure every word of the transcription is correct, since these blessings are considered to come directly from Heavenly Father to his individual children. But I am sure things are missed on rare occasions.

As an aside, I know that sometimes with spiritual experiences, we can feel impressions from the Holy Ghost in the moment, which are as strong as any spoken word. For instance, "hearing" something during a General Conference talk and then later re-watching, only to find out that particular aspect was not mentioned by the speaker (yep, happened to me). And I know that as we study and ponder the words in our Patriarchal Blessings, the Spirit will enlighten us with understanding beyond what is written. Just a couple of thoughts.
