As a newly called stake technology specialist, I am working to help organize the calendars that have been created across the wards in our stake. Currently, there are too many calendars, which makes their use confusing for ward leaders and members.
I’ve attempted to delete some of these calendars. While I receive a message saying the calendar has been deleted, it still shows up in the list.
Could you please confirm whether I have the rights required to delete calendars, or if there is a different process I should follow?
My goal is to bring clarity to how the calendar is used and to train ward leaders to manage it in a more organized and effective way.

At a STS, while you can see ward calendars, I don't think you have any ability to edit or manage them. You do have rights to the stake calendars. Only a ward admin can delete ward calendars.
As far as what calendars to have, the main thing I preach about the calendars is it's primary function is to communicate events to the membership. The different calendars should be set up so that members can select what events are visible to them or are synced to their personal calendar(s).
For example, if the EQ decides to host a pancake breakfast for the ward, I'd put that on the ward calendar where the whole ward can see it. If the EQ decides to add a "setup" event before it to help prepare, that would go on the EQ calendar. Again, think of the general membership as being the customer and a lot of questions answer themselves.
It's never going to be perfect, but strive to keep the "signal to noise" ratio up (minimize the number of extraneous events) or the members may stop using the calendar.
